[Announcement of the Academic Exam Results]
The written academic exam results were posted on the bulletin board.
The results… they exceeded my expectations, so much so that I was quite literally stunned.
The other three teams secured victory over the commoner-transfer students’ team by a significant margin.
Considering commoners at Alecidus Royal Academy typically focused on academics rather than magic or combat, I had shared an OP item among the three teams for this exam.
Naturally, the OP item in question was Myril Note.
Though I was familiar with its incredible use, I couldn’t stress enough how insane it was.
Not only were the contents easy to comprehend, but it also provided but it also provided concise summaries of the exam subjects, leading you to question if the writer had created the exam itself.
Myril Note, by Myril. What a terrifying item it was.
Among the nobles, many had neglected basic studies, even despising them.
This attitude extended not only to the nobles in the Noble Faction but also to those in the Royal Faction, particularly Lyncean’s, who were mostly meatheads.
However, with the aid of Myril’s Note, their academic performance soared, leading them to win a landslide victory over the commoner team, with the Black Team securing first place, the White Team, led by Elina, coming in second, and the Red Team, led by Lyncean, in third.
Despite their best efforts, the commoner team was ultimately held back by the transfer students’ two-year gap in basic studies. While they could handle math just fine, they faced challenges in the Kingdom’s language and history.
“Wow, this really surpasses my expectations.”
Hearing my murmur, Rivera shot a triumphant glance at Dan and his team.
The results were up on the massive bulletin board, visible to all. The assembled crowd’s expressions clearly fell into two categories: bright and dark.
Those with dark expressions were obviously the Blue Team. They were dismayed by this year’s unexpected outcome.
For the first time in several years, the Blue Team, accustomed to claiming the top spot in the written exam, found themselves at the bottom.
“T-this is not the end. Come on, guys, keep your heads up,” Dan attempted to rally his dejected teammates, but his words seemed to fall on deaf ears.
No wonder, as commoners, these results could significantly impact their prospects for employment.
The written academic exam typically led to a recruiting competition among scouts from the nobles, royal family, and merchants. For almost three years, the commoner students had been dreaming of this life-changing opportunity, yet they ultimately found themselves at the bottom. How could they not despair?
Individual results, which would be posted at a later date, would likely draw scouts regardless. Still, nobles might hesitate to consider hiring the commoners whose grades comparable to some meatheads.
While some merchants might still express interest, the overall number of scouts this year would inevitably dwindle.
“Have I done wrong?” Myril murmured, her voice tinged with concern.
I shook my head gently. “No, Myril. They were just unlucky this year. Their scores are just as good as the commoner students from last year. However, they’ve been overshadowed by the remarkable improvement of other teams, that’s all.”
Despite my reassurance, Myril still wore an apologetic expression, so I reached out and patted her on the head.
“Their defeat was sealed the moment the devil, me, decided to use his ultimate weapon, you. And your performances didn’t disappoint. Be confident.”
I never meant to crush Dan and the commoner team this thoroughly, but Myril’s talents were simply remarkable.
I mean, I was lazy. I wouldn’t go out of my way to choose a difficult path when an easy one was available.
Of course, I wouldn’t hesitate to make full use of Myril’s Note.
“Now then, since you’ve clinched first place in all subjects in the written exam, I’ll grant any wish you have, Myril, as promised.”
This time, I had made a promise to my lovers that the top performer in each subject could request a wish from me, ensuring fairness among them.
However, the author of Myril Note had gone above and beyond.
Myril achieved perfect scores in every subject, securing the sole right to claim a reward from me.
“Yes! For each subject where I ranked first, I’d like to claim a day of yours, Lord Luc.”
I wondered where her earlier sympathy for the commoners had gone to? It seemed Myril had grown stronger in terms of her will.
She had learned not only to give but also to seek. Gone was the thin, poor, yet beautiful first-year student, replaced by a spirited angel in a white coat, tugging my hand eagerly.
“Alright, it’s almost time for lunch. What are you in the mood for, Myril?”
“I’d be happy with anything as long as I’m with you, Lord Luc.”
“I know this great oriental restaurant I’ve been enjoying lately. How about we head there?”
“Yes!”
Suddenly, when I glanced in Dan’s direction, I noticed Saintess Tia had joined him, helping to boost the students’ morale. Several male students had gathered around them, and they started discussing the upcoming magic exam.
Among the commoners, there were those who could wield magic. It seemed like they had decided to have them guide those who couldn’t in learning the attributeless strengthening magic.
This was Dan’s specialty, and he was clearly excited about it.
By the way, I’d heard from Cirrus that there had been a suggestion to adopt a written format for the magic exam, but the results of this academic exam led the professors to unanimously decide against it, fearing further failures of the commoner students.
“Lord Luc, I anticipate your company through the night as well, alright?”
When did she pick up that kind of line? I guess I’d have to leave myself to the whims of the energetic Myril.
