LVL Chapter 162

[You Done?]

My eyes unconsciously drift to the masses of monsters falling from the academy dungeon as I travel through the sky riding on Freon’s back, and coincidentally, I spot Amanai.

If I’m going to enter the dungeon, the more fighting force I’ve got the better. I immediately jumped off Freon and pull myself toward the ground using the ‘Shishū’ skill.

Right before I hit the ground, I break my fall by using the thread I’ve tied to Freon in advance and land in front of Amanai, then I immediately catch (cut in two) the approaching experience points (demon-kin) with ‘Sword Saint’s Slash’.

From an outsider’s perspective, I just stole Amanai’s experience points, and I’m not sure if I should say sorry to him or what, but thanks to the dose of experience points, I manage to regain my composure to some extent. I hope he let me off the hook.

(Still, what a terrible sight.)

A distance away, pieces of people’s flesh are scattered and blood dyes the road like a red carpet. It must be the work of the demon-kin from before.

There should be a fair number of demon-kins who have joined Nanashino Faction, it won’t be strange if similar tragedies are happening throughout the city.

I don’t think Higaki, Luisina, and my other acquaintances will lose to the demon-kins, but… when my thought reach that point, it comes to me.

“Amanai, where’s Uncle, by the way?”

By uncle, I mean the man who has given me various bonus. He’s the ‘Sword Saint’ Sanuki Shoichiro, the greatest adventurer in the Nation.

Although he’s an oddball, his strength is far above mine. Knowing him, he should have been on the move to end the chaos, but I didn’t see any signs of him from the sky.

Where the hell is he when we need him the most? Amanai answers my question immediately.

“The ‘Sword Saint’ Sanuki-san should be outside the wall on a request. I’m sure this turmoil is also aimed at his absence.”

“I see. Well, no way he wouldn’t sense such a big guy and earthquake, he should be on his way back as we speak.”

That said, when Uncle goes outside the wall, it’s often quite a long trip.

It should take a considerable amount of time for him to come back… I’d best not expect too much.

“Okay. Let’s go then, Amanai.”

“Ah… sorry, I’ve got to escort everyone to a safe place first.”

“Huh?”

Who are you talking about? I can only see rubble everywhere, though? Thinking that, I look back and see survivors trickling out from behind the scattered rubble.

I don’t know how many there are, but at a glance, I see 10 people unable to fight. The ones who can are half that number.

That should be enough combat force for them all to get to safety without a problem, but I feel like Amanai would complain if I just dragged him away.

By the way, they are apparently going to go to the villa where Julia is staying. It seems to be used as a temporary evacuation and command center.

“I see. You guys aren’t doing badly. Good luck, I’m rooting for you. Okay, let’s go Amanai.”

“Didn’t you listen to what I said???”

I did, and that’s why I said “Let’s go”, though…?

My goal is to take down the mastermind, Nanashino, not to save lives. I’m going to leave that to the knights and others who can.

But the prerequisite to defeating Nanashino is that you must have the ability to reach and enter the academy dungeon.

The 1F, which seems to be the only entrance currently visible, is located at the top of the headless giant. In other words, you have to either climb up there or fly over there.

In that respect, I can fly with Freon, whereas Amanai can fly with his original skill ‘Thunder Sovereign’.

Moreover, Nanashino is a reincarnated person. If he pulls a trick, it should be easier for us, fellow reincarnated people, to deal with it.

“Hayato. I think Sakurai-kun has a point.”

“Reika… but…”

“I’m also an adventurer, remember? And the villa isn’t too far from here, I’ll be fine!”

Just when I am about to put my hand on the hilt of my sword to abduct him, support comes from an unexpected person.

Akano confidently puffs out her chest as she declares so, then she put her hands on Amanai’s cheeks as if to reassure him.

“The ones behind this situation are in that thing, right? It’ll be bad for us if we stay passive, give them a punch in my stead.”

“Are you really going to be okay?”

“Is your girlfriend so weak that you have to be worried about her?”

“…No. She’s much stronger than me.”

“Right? Then go!”

“You done?”

“Yeah, I’m off.”

“You done??”

“Sakurai!!”

W-why are you snapping at me all of a sudden, I was just asking if you were done with your farewell… that scared me…

Although I’m not sure why Amanai directs his fist at me, I succeed in gaining a valuable ally.

Before we take off, we have a brief meeting and then I have Amanai go first, even if it costs him a little extra magical power.

His goal is the top of the giant, the academy dungeon.

While I was flying in the sky previously, I caught glimpse of a figure.

The figure had been looking down the city in front of the sole remaining building on top of the giant, and 9 out of 10, he is ‘Nanashino Katsumi’,

I only ever met him once. Contrary to his frivolous demeanor, he was so strong I couldn’t see through the extent of his strength.

I did confirm from our encounter that, at the very least, his swordsmanship rivaled that of the Sword Saint’s, his reaction speed was abnormal—to the point he could block my surprise attack—and he had the trump card that was ‘World Intervention’.

He’s not the kind of opponent you can defeat just by facing him head-on and attacking him blindly. I have to prepare something special if I’m going to defeat him.

Fortunately, my plan is in line with Amanai’s desire to confirm Nanshino’s true intentions and goals. I ended up dumping the dangerous role on him, but he’ll manage somehow, I’m sure.

Seeing off Amanai flying through the sky clad in thunderbolts, I hop on Freon. But just as Freon is about to take off, I have him take a very short detour.

I mean, there are so many monsters on the street, it’ll be a waste not to kill them. And so, after taking a short detour and slaughtering every monster I saw, I leave for the sky in a bit of a hurry.
