[First Year Sword Emperor’s Cup 8]
The Blazing Maiden Lyncean Sword Marshall VS the Rogue Caligula Gouf AcGee.
I decided to watch the match in person because I was curious to see just how strong Caligula was for him to be so arrogant.
“It is the first time Lord Luc doesn’t watch through the monitor,” remarked Rivera.
She and Tashte were accompanying me.
“If you are concerned about Lady Lyncean—”
“Tashte. This is her match. Don’t interfere.”
“Very well. As you wish.”
“Huh? Interfere?”
“Never mind it, Rivera. More importantly, are you okay watching Lyncean’s match?”
Recalling how frustrated she had been after losing to Lyncean, I couldn’t help but be a bit concerned.
“I appreciate the concern, but it’s fine. I’m already over it. After all, I’ve made precious memories with Lord Luc.”
It felt like Rivera had grown attached to me since that day.
Even now, as I rode on Bal, she sat close beside me.
She was soft and smelled good, so I didn’t mind, but I was worried that Karin would get mad at me.
Tashte was acting like my underling as if it was the most obvious thing to do, too. What a pain~.
“I see. Then let’s tease her if she loses.”
“No, she won against me! I wish she advances to the next round. Lord Luc can beat her up for me, then.”
Huh? I thought you had gotten over your defeat?
When the battle began, Lyncean immediately went on full offensive, making Caligula passively dodge.
She lived up to her moniker, the Blazing Maiden. In no time, she cornered Caligula Gouf AcGee and her sword found its way to his neck.
If it was on the battlefield, she probably would decapitate him, but Lyncean stopped her sword since it was but a competitive match.
“It’s over, huh.”
And here I thought he was a big deal, I was about to leave when Caligula suddenly screamed.
“You naïve dumbass!”
He refused to concede defeat, pushing aside Lyncean’s sword and striking her in the abdomen.
“Guha!”
“You should have struck the killing blow! This is a life-or-death battle! I’m prepared to die. Your naivety will be the end of you!”
Aura erupted from Caligula’s body.
Wounded, Lyncean was forced to her knees from the pressure of his Aura.
“Ghh.”
Caligula grabbed Lyncean’s hair and lifted up her head.
“You think a battle is a game? Well, no wonder, you’re a woman!”
He struck her cheek and kneed her stomach. I clenched my fist without me knowing. I should be glad if Lyncean lost.
She had always been an albatross around my neck…
“Gh! Don’t underestimate me!”
Lyncean made her own mana go berserk in an attempt to counterattack.
“Ha! Idiot!”
Noticing this, Caligula slammed Lyncean into the ground and activated his attribute magic [Speed], which let him max out his, well, speed. With it, he put a huge distance between them in a flash.
“Think you can take me down with you? What a fool.”
The outburst of her rampaging mana caused severe burns all over Lyncean’s body, and she powerlessly collapsed to the ground.
Caligula approached Lyncean and put his hands on her armor.
He was doing what the ugly fat toad Luc was supposed to do in the game.
“Kh… ju… ki… me…”
Haa~, she was supposed to say those words to me… Before I knew it, I moved, surprising myself.
“Caligula Gouf AcGee!!!”
Standing on Bal, I shouted Caligula’s name, letting my rage explode.
“Huh? The hell?”
“Take your hands off her.”
“Oh, if it ain’t Luc Hugaro Deskustos. Who do you think you are to order me!!!”
Mana, Aura, pressure, [Sloth]… I released all the powers in my body, intimidating Caligula.
“Heh, would you look at this? So you were hiding your power? Interesting.
“Fine, I’m gonna give her to you. Was she your woman? I got no intention to fight against the Deskustos House. But you got it right? Luc Hugaro Deskustos, you owe me now. And it ain’t cheap. Be sure to entertain me tomorrow, or else.”
Caligula raised his hands and walked away from Lyncean.
The referee ran up to Lyncean and declared her defeated.
I didn’t withdraw my powers until I could no longer see Caligula’s back as he left with a disgusting smile.
“Tashte.”
“My Lord!”
“This is my fight. Don’t interfere.”
“As you wish.”
It was a pain, but I decided to fight personally for the first time in a long while…

(Dan Side)
The daughter of Duke Deskustos was by far the most beautiful woman I had ever met.
But I could feel something terrifying in her beauty.
Most importantly, though, she was an enemy of the Marshall House. I would definitely defeat her.
Since Lady Lyncean had lost to Caligula Gouf AcGee, it was up to me to take the championship and bring honor to the Marshall House.
I was really hoping to fight Lady Lyncean in the final, but… I’d avenge her by defeating Caligula Gouf AcGee in the final.
Even if Luc ended up being the one to advance to the final, I would defeat him for sure this time.
“Oh my, it seems the little puppy doesn’t put me in his eyes and thinks victory is already his.”
The young lady before me looked so stunning in her purple dress. But to come to a battle in a dress, she underestimated the sacredness of a battle.
“I’m sorry, but I have no time to entertain you. I’ll quickly end this match.”
Be it Caligula Gouf AcGee or Luc Hugaro Deskustos, I would beat them and become the champion.
“I see. You want to end this match quickly. Well then, why don’t I give you a hand? Charm Eyes.”
W-what was going on? My body wouldn’t… listen… to… me…
“Fido, sit.”
“Woof!”
By the time I came to, I was already lying face up on the ground, showing my belly. I lost.

I’m normally fine with it, but it does become a problem when you read it as the chapters are releasing. Maybe I should stop reading this now, wait for more releases, and then binge later…

I wonder, What is Iris’s power? Can she manipulate anyone or is there some way to shield against it.
