[Vain Struggle]
In the underground dungeon managed by the church, the buried dead had turned into undead creatures, wandering as zombies and skeletons.
This indicated that the church had been neglecting its duty of performing purifications.
“A dungeon brought about by laziness… Kind of makes me feel a sense of affinity to it.”
As I advanced, riding on Bal, not a single monster hindered me. Bal effortlessly dealt with any zombies that appeared; I didn’t even need to lift a finger.
“Akali should be here.”
By ‘here’ I was referring to the dungeon’s boss room, which resembled a ritual room.
The underground dungeon wasn’t particularly large, only extending down to the third floor.
The first floor was inhabited by feeble zombies and skeletons.
The second floor was haunted by wandering ghosts.
The third floor was home to high-ranking monsters such as skeleton knights and wraiths.
Bal had made a quick work of them all.
Surprisingly, despite my lack of involvement, my level still had risen. The leveling system in this world was really riddled with loopholes.
I entered the boss room.
“Heya, not sorry for intruding.”
“Buhihi, well done making it here!”
“Darling!”
Inside, the room held only Loweist Lecherouss Piggs and Akali Mido, whose hand was tied to a bed.
“…This is the end of the line for you, Loweist Lecherouss Piggs.”
“Who? Me? Oh, please, spare me with the nonsense. You might believe you’ve taken everything from me, but I’ll have you know you haven’t.”
Loweist Lecherouss Piggs revealed an ugly smile. Not only was physically ugly, but even his actions were equally ugly.
“As a matter of fact, your dear Miss Akali is in my hands. Buhihi, I hold the upper hand here. So, if you want your wife to remain unharmed, kneel! Bow before me!”
I couldn’t help but cover my mouth and fell backward upon hearing his words.
Oh no, this guy is so hilarious… I can’t hold it.
As Bal caught me before I hit the ground…
“Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!”
“W-what? Have you lost your mind?”
Loweist Lecherouss Piggs remarked seemingly baffled by my reaction.
“Haa~… just try it.”
“Huh?”
“I told you, go ahead and try. Do you really believe you can even scratch Akali with your puny strength?”
I locked my gaze onto Loweist Lecherouss Piggs with an intimidating stare.
“Mocking me, are you? Well, allow me to show you the true power of a count!”
Loweist Lecherouss Piggs swung a mana-infused knife toward Akali.
Akali’s gaze remained fixed on me, unwavering and resolute.
——Clang!
The sound of metal striking metal echoed throughout the boss room.
It was produced when the knife was deflected by the magic barrier created by my magic tool.
Regardless of how much mana he channeled into the knife, he couldn’t breach the barrier.
“W-what’s going on?! Why won’t my mana affect this darned barrier!!!”
“The answer is simple. The magic tools that Darling made to protect us are extraordinary!”
“Is that all you’ve got? Well, let’s finish this, then. I’ll bless you with sloth.”
I exuded a dense, purple mana from my body.
“Buhi-hihihihhihihihihihihihihihihihihihihi!”
The ugly, shaking lump of flesh erupted into laughter.
“W-what’s wrong with this guy!! So gross, way too gross!!!” Akali wore a disgusted expression as she looked at the disgusting guy cackling next to her.
“Oh, please pardon my ungraceful behavior, Miss Akali.
“Buhihi, I haven’t gone mad, nor have I conceded defeat. I simply couldn’t help but find amusement at the fact that a naïve brat, still wet behind his ears, dares to look down on a count.”
Loweist Lecherouss Piggs’s face radiated confidence. At some point, his eyes had turned vacant, reminiscent of someone subjected to the effects of deadly sin magic.
“You couldn’t be thinking you were the only one who could use deadly sin magic, could you?”
I felt genuine surprise for the first time since my arrival here.
I had seen Testa using deadly sin magic on the luxury liner. From that, I understood that there were other users of deadly sin magic besides me. But could Loweist Lecherouss Piggs really harness deadly sin magic?
“Buhihi, you’ve guessed correctly. I can use it too!!! O my Deadly Sin Magic [Slave]. Appear before me.”
As if responding to the call of Loweist Lecherouss Piggs, a pale white fire ignited on the altar, and the interior of the dungeon began to tremble.
“Behold! This is my Deadly Sin Magic, [Slave], the power that grants me control over monsters, even the dungeon boss, Dias the Undead King!”
The pale white fire intensified and coalesced into a black-robed skeleton mage.
Its dense mana reeked of death.
“What do you think? Isn’t it simply terrifying? Dungeon bosses aren’t monsters easily subdued, even with deadly sin magic. However, I can summon a dungeon boss. And not only that, I can do this. Dias! Get rid of that brat!!”
[GYEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]
Dias’s scream reverberated in my ears.
In response, I-no, Bal sprang into action.
“Go ahead.”
Shifting into battle mode, Bal took a swing at Dias with a mana-infused blade.
[GYEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]
“Huh?”
The floating Dias emitted a final shriek before dissipating.
What a letdown.
Was Bal too strong? Or was Dias too weak…?
“So? Is that all your deadly sin magic’s got?”
“Huh?”
“Hah~ Yours isn’t deadly sin magic.”
“W-what do you mean? That person, that person definitely said that my magic is a type of deadly sin magic—c-could it be?!”
This guy was likely nothing more than a pathetic clown… The real mastermind pulling the strings behind the scenes had to be…
“You were merely a pawn… but that doesn’t change the fact that you’ve touched what’s mine.”
Glancing at Akali, I noticed her cheeks had flushed, her expression oddly joyful.
“P-p-please wait! T-this simply happened because I allowed intrusive thoughts to overcome me. I never meant to offend you… I-I know. Spare me, and I will make anyone you desire a slave and obey your commands!! I also possess countless methods to amass great wealth!! I can make you the wealthiest man in the kingdom in no time!!!”
Ugly… ugly to the very end.
“You, a dead man driven by insatiable lust for sex and wealth.”
“E-eeek!! Please, stop! I’m begging you! Spare my life!!!”
“I shall grant you [Sloth]. Deadly Sin Magic [Sloth].”
His heart brimmed with an arrogance that perpetually fed his avarice, spiraling his desires into an uncontrollable abyss, transforming him into an utterly ugly creature. That was the essence of the man known Loweist Lecherouss Piggs.
“I’m envious. No one will call you by the name Loweist Lecherouss Piggs anymore. Why? Because no one will recognize you any longer.
“You will languish within this dungeon.
“Even if you starve to death, even if a monster ends your existence, you’ll return to life as one of the undead, eternally idling in this dungeon.
“Ah~, how I envy you.
“Until this dungeon meets its demise, you will keep dying and resurrecting, forever caught in the cycle of life and death. An eternal slumber will forever elude you.
“Oh, by the way, don’t you worry. I have another gift for you. Even if you’ve turned into an undead, you will retain your ability to feel pain.”
I had Bal release Akali and then left the dungeon.
“Ugaaa.”
Loweist Lecherouss Piggs’s moans echoed within the dungeon.
No one would recognize him anymore.
He would simply exist indefinitely, living a life of perpetual sloth as a nameless monster.
