[Now to the Royal Capital]
(??? Side)
In a lavish room, two individuals enjoyed their drinks.
“It’s a rare sight to have you here. How many years has it been? I’ve always been the one going to your place.”
“I didn’t come for you.”
The rich aroma of wine wafted through the air as it was poured into the cup of the arrogant-looking man leaning against the sofa.
“Hehe, I know. You came to see how your son is doing, right? Can’t just admit it straight up, can you? How much longer are you planning to play this ‘treating my sons differently to see how they turn out’ game?”
“Shut up.”
“I won’t~ Hehe, you’re as arrogant as always. Your kid is something else. Doesn’t think like a noble, but acts like one. I can’t help but be curious about his future.”
Emptying his cup, the arrogant man rose to his feet.
Through the window, he spotted a line of carriages departing from Labyrinth City Gorgon.
“You really should just go and meet him. But I suppose you’re too stubborn to listen to me.”
“He can do whatever he wants as long as he doesn’t interfere with the grand plan. You know that, don’t you?”
“Of course. I have to admit, his appearance is like a breath of fresh air; I was growing bored, dying for anything interesting. I got to see other new buds, too.”
The shadows of the two figures cast an eerie vibe.
“Just wait for another two years.”
“That boy’s marriage announcement will be the trigger, right?”
“Indeed. The kingdom’s long period of peace is coming to an end.”
“What a sinful man.”
What were the two shadows discussing? Only they held the answers.

It would take around seven days to return to the capital by carriage. Elina and Anna joined us in our carriage, even though they had ridden in a different one during the outbound journey. Fortunately, it was spacious, so it wasn’t an issue.
A lot had happened these past three months, and my body was feeling sluggish.
“Luc, would you like to use my lap as a pillow?” Lyncean noticed my drowsiness and kindly offered her lap. Succumbing to my fatigue, I rested my head on her thighs.
I’d never imagined that Lyncean would voluntarily offer me to use her lap as a pillow before the school trip.
I was truly grateful; her lap was incredibly comfortable.
“Ah, that’s cheating, Lynn.”
“Elina, this is first come first served. But, don’t worry, we still have a long way to go, so let me have this opportunity this time,” Lyncean tenderly ran her fingers through my hair, as if caring for a lover.
I drifted off to sleep, surrendering to the soothing sensation of her touch.
When I woke up, it was already night, and I proceeded to set up my tent.
With Bal on guard duty, there was no need for a night watch.
“Luc.”
Just as I was about to enter the tent, Lyncean called out to me.
This gave me a flashback to that time when I had her listen to my complaints.
“What’s up?”
“Would you listen to my complaints?”
“Of course.”
“Thank you.”
I had Bal transformed into a chair and urged Lyncean to sit.
I then started a fire and brewed coffee in front of her.
I’d bought the coffee beans in Labyrinth City Gorgon. Their pleasant smells had had me hooked in an instant.
“Not a fan of bitter, huh?” Lyncean frowned the moment she took a sip. How cute.
I sweetened her coffee with a bit of sugar and added some milk before handing it back to her.
“Now it tastes delicious.”
“I’m glad you like it.”
“Luc, you really can do anything.”
“I can’t, and I don’t really like moving.”
“Hehe, I know.”
The two of us sat by the bonfire, watching the flames dance.
I never expected the day would come when I would leisurely enjoy coffee with Lyncean.
I had thought that she would choose Dan over me, and I had been prepared to give up on her… because she was my favorite character, and I wanted her to be happy.
“You know, I… I’ll try to live as I please.”
“Live as you please?”
“Ah, turbulent times are approaching for the kingdom.”
My hands paused, and I turned to Lyncean.
“However, no matter what, I will never doubt anything you do. Even if you do something wrong, I’ll be on your side. Even if I can’t support you, I want to be with you.”
Was this her way of complaining? It felt like I was receiving a heartfelt confession.
“Thanks.”
“But I love my family. I can’t just throw everything away for you for now.
“If possible, I would love to bring my family to your side too.”
I see. This must be what Lyncean wanted to complain about.
“That’d be difficult.”
“Yes, very difficult.
“Our families are enemies after all.
“Seriously, family and status are such troublesome things,” Lyncean said with a sigh, but she didn’t seem to worry too much about it. In fact, she appeared eager to take on the challenges.
“Luc. There is no doubt in my mind anymore,” Lyncean said as she put down her cup and stood up. “You’ve always initiated it, right?”
For the first time, in a place where no one could see us, Lyncean took the initiative to kiss me.
“I, Lyncean, vow to give my whole heart to Luc as his wife. I vow to be his greatest ally in times of need, and his greatest ally in all endeavors.”
It was a personal vow, devoid of our family names. No witnesses were present; this pledge was meant for us alone.
“I, Luc, vow to accept Lyncean as her husband. I vow to give my whole heart to her.”
“Hehe, if we go back to the capital, we won’t be able to be together for a while.”
“Then we’d better not waste this opportunity to stay together.” I grabbed Lyncean’s arm as she tried to leave, and pulled her onto Bal.
“Wow!”
“The night is long. Let’s enjoy it as long as we please. Together.”
The night sky differed from the one in the royal capital. Stars adorned it, shining brilliantly and casting a beautiful glow upon both of us.
