[Kaku’zu]
General Guizar was the only one who took note of Kaku’zu. His soldiers just kept charging straight toward the gate.
“Stop! I said s—kh.”
Realizing it was too late to halt them, and they were too far away for him to catch up even with the Thunderpeacock, he watched as they got ever closer to Kaku’zu.
Kaku’zu’s massive spear-shaped object had a shield-like steel attached. General Guizar had a bad feeling at the sight of it.
“Here goes nothing… Wicked Exoskeleton!”
With a roar, the steel unraveled, wrapping around Kaku’zu’s body. In an instant, it transformed into full-body armor, making him resemble a raging beast.
“You’re mine–mgph?!”
Just as one of the Principal of Diord’s soldiers was about to attack him, Kaku’zu crushed his head with just a punch.
Witnessing the scene, General Guizar couldn’t help but mumble, “…His strength is inhuman.”
Kaku’zu went on a crushing rampage against the soldiers rushing at him, like an unstoppable avalanche. It wasn’t a murder; it was a slaughter. With every fist he threw, a soldier’s body would be crushed, armor be damned.
“Damn you! Think you’re invincible?!”
A brawny soldier swung his great axe at him, but Kaku’zu’s full body armor easily stopped it.
“Kh… haaaaaaaaaaaa… eep?!”
Despite the brawny soldier’s relentless attempts to break through his armor, Kaku’zu stood firm. After crushing another soldier, he finally caught the neck of the brawny soldier and twisted it. With every soldier near him dead, the giant fully-armored man roared towards the sky.
“Groaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarr!!!”
His roar, combined with his queerness and ominous presence, made the rest of the Principality of Diord’s army halt in their tracks, thoroughly intimidated.
“Hazen Heim… what kind of magic wand did you to your subordinate!” General Guizar couldn’t help but exclaim in horror.
The Wicked Exoskeleton. It was the only magic wand marked by Hazen and was inlaid with a 5th-grade magic gem, the highest grade that Hazen possessed.
It infused magic power throughout the user’s body, enhancing their five senses of sight, smell, taste, perception, and hearing, while boosting their physical strength to a superhuman level.
However, in exchange, the user was robbed of their sense of self, turning into a berserker incapable of distinguishing friend from foe.
The silver lining, though, was that they would carry out the command they had given to themselves the moment they activated it.
This time, Kaku’zu’s self-given command was to defend the fortress from those trying to attack it. With this, he could make himself kill only the enemies, despite the insatiable desire for violence consuming him.
Kaku’zu had caught Hazen’s eye due to his extraordinary physical strength, combat sense, and abundant magic power. But what had truly captivated Hazen was Kaku’zu’s overflowing kindness.
Kindness might be a virtue for ordinary people, but for soldiers, it was a shackle.
But the kind man wasn’t adept at academics either.
Unsuitable to be a civil servant or a soldier, the only viable option left for him was to become a mercenary.
It was there that Hazen conceived an idea: to suppress Kaku’zu’s rationality with a magic wand that generated violent impulses to an abnormal degree.
This magic wand was currently the most powerful magic wand Hazen had ever created.
The moment all of the imperial soldiers passed through the gate, Kaku’zu swung the giant spear-shaped part of the magic wand held in his right hand.
“Groaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarr!!!”
It unraveled into a chained sword, extending over dozens of meters, undeniably bizarre. The Wicked Exoskeleton served as a magic wand that seamlessly combined offense and defense. In an instant, the area around the west gate was stained with the blood of the Principality of Diord’s soldiers.
“Mwahahahaha! That is amazing! I can’t believe Second Lieutenant Hazen kept such an incredible trump card a secret!” Major Simant, having climbed atop the gate, was ecstatic at the sight of it.
“Hey, you! Don’t waste your ridiculous strength on the small fries! Go and kill General Guizar!”
“…Major Simant! What are you saying?!”
“Are you seriously asking that? Now that the principality has lost its momentum, this is the perfect opportunity to strike back!”
“……” Captain Lorenzo couldn’t help but fall silent. Even though Kaku’zu had stopped the enemy’s advance, if General Guizar killed him, there would be no one left to stop the enemy army. “Kaku’zu should stay here. We won’t be able to stop the Principality of Diord’s soldiers without him.”
“Shut up! I’m not asking the opinion of a disgrace like you! Or what? Are you trying to go against me?!”
“……”
This fool. His narrow-sightedness made Captain Lorenzo feel sick in his stomach. Perhaps Second Lieutenant Hazen had set him and the two captains against General Guizar with a hidden agenda.
“Kill your incompetent yet motivated allies, huh…?”
The words Hazen had once told him echoed in his mind. However, he couldn’t bring himself to do such a cruel thing. He cursed himself.
Still,
“Hey! Hey, you monster! Move! This is an order from your superior!”
“……”
Despite Major Simant’s words, Kaku’zu remained still.
T/L rant: It says the central gate in this chapter. Even though just a chapter ago it was the west gate T_T.
