[In Between Busy Schedules…]
Despite our worries, the days passed by peacefully.
Following the kidnapping incident orchestrated by the former heads of the Lekrust and Halman families, campus security was heightened. We suspected that this was the reason the mastermind hadn’t made any significant moves.
“There’s only one week left until the school festival… I hope nothing bad happens,” I murmured to myself while gazing at the campus scenery from the student council room window. Despite my soft voice, the others seemed to catch my words.
“I’m sure everything will go well, Barrett.”
“I second that.”
Tayte and Jarvis, the only two remaining in the student council room besides me, reassured me.
“Thank you both.”
I wouldn’t have made it this far without them.
I could only hold things together thanks to Tayte, Jarvis, Raul, Eureka, Andrei, Kleine, and Madeline; although, aside from Tayte and Jarvis, the others were patrolling the campus.
They worked hard to contribute.
This was the essence of the student council.
…I was simply following Reina’s example, but only after joining the student council and actually running it did I realize the importance of relying on my friends.
Reflecting on it, Reina also used to have many friends to help her manage the student council.
She was impressive, no doubt, but it was still crucial to have friends you could depend on.
Though as a fan of the original novel【The Rise of the Weakest Holy Swordsman】, I had never expected our group to come together.
After all, in the original novel, Barrett was (one-sidedly) hostile to Raul and tormented Tayte, making her get sick of him. Jarvis and Eureka were on his side, but the former was blackmailed, and the latter due to an unfortunate misunderstanding; there was no genuine trust between them. Andrei and Kleine probably avoided him like a plague during their school days.
…Seriously, it was almost a miracle I was able to get along so well with them now.
In the end, no major troubles occurred that day, and we ended the day peacefully.
“Alright, now that I’ve finished my homework… I guess I’ll double-check the festival layout.”
“Ah, let me help you.”
“You’re both very enthusiastic,” Marina said, putting down two cups of tea as Tayte and I spread out materials on the table.
Usually, after finishing our daily pair study session, Tayte and I would chat while enjoying some tea until it was curfew—but, it seemed we would have to hold that off until the academy festival was over.
“Nya~… preparing for the academy festival sure seems tough-nya.”
“Young Mistress Reina seemed to be as busy last year as well.”
Watching us from afar, Primm and Rebecca remarked, but… did we seem that busy? Reina seemed to have it harder last year to me.
“Lady Tayte should try to be selfish toward Young Master once in a while.”
“Huh?”
“That’s right-nya!”
“How about you try a line from the novel I read recently: ‘Which is more important to you, your work or me?!’. I personally recommend it.”
No, what kind of novel was that, Rebecca?!
Under the pressure of my three maids, Tayte…
“I’m happy enough just to be with Barrett.”
…uttered such a kind answer. What were you, an angel?
…Sorry, Tayte.
After the academy festival, I promised I’d take you on a fancy date.
