[Second Year Sword Emperor’s Cup 1]
(Live Commentary Side)
Live: “Here we are again, folks! It’s time for the Alecidus Royal Academy Sword Emperor Cup! Preliminary matches took place throughout the royal capital again this year, and the top eight contenders have already advanced to the quarterfinals.”
Commentary: “This year, the first-years who reached the last stages in the previous competition are back as second-years, displaying remarkable growth, as you would expect from the Platinum Generation led by Princess Elina.”
Live: “You can say that again. Now, let’s go ahead and introduce the participants who have made it to the quarterfinals.”
Commentary: “Indeed, they’ve each earned their own nicknames. Without further ado, let’s meet our quarter-finalists:
– Natasha, the ‘Poisonous-smile Bodhisattva’.
– Balnyan, the ‘Purple Bear Girl’.
– Lyncean Sword Marshall, the ‘Flame-haired Battle Maiden’.
– Luc Hugaro Deskustos, the ‘Harem King’.
– Dan, the ‘Youngest S-rank’.
– Nora Gorgon Gordon, the ‘Strongest Amongst Men and Women’.
– Tashte Park Nezul, the ‘Mind Weaver’.
– And finally, Cecilia Coleman Cyliss, the ‘Willful Lady’.”
Live: “It looks like we’ve got another powerhouse lineup this time around.”
Commentary: “Absolutely. Lady Iris Hugaro Deskustos, last year’s champion, delivered a beautiful performance. I’m hopeful that this year’s champion will give us a fight just as splendid as Lady Iris did.”
Live: “This year, Lady Nora is the sole third-year who made it to the quarterfinals. However, I must note that the preliminary matches among the third-years were incredibly intense. Most of them have nearly reached their level cap.”
Commentary: “True. Without Lady Iris this year, many contestants have proven their worth. On the flip side, the Platinum Generation is living up to expectations, boasting four quarter-finalists from the second year.”
Live: “We can’t ignore the final preliminary match between Lady Lyncean and Princess Elina. It was phenomenal. I felt like I was watching the championship match.”
Commentary: “Absolutely. The match was incredibly close, with the Flame-haired Battle Maiden Lyncean eventually securing victory over the Ice Queen Elina.”
The highlights played, eliciting cheers and admiration from the audience.
Live: “I’m eagerly anticipating the upcoming quarterfinals as well. Oh, it looks like the first match is between the ‘Purple Bear Girl’ Balnyan and the ‘Mind Weaver’ Tashte Park Nezul.”
“I surrender.”
Live: “What? What’s happening? Tashte declared surrender the moment the battle began!”
After surrendering, Tashte slowly approached Balnyan.
Live: “Balnyan is registered as a first-year student, but most of her personal information is confidential. In the preliminaries, she defeated most opponents with a single blow and without uttering a word. I thought we’d finally see her full power in the quarterfinals, but I didn’t expect Lord Tashte to surrender.”
Commentary: “Lord Tashte is skilled at gathering information. It seems he decided he couldn’t win against the ‘Purple Bear Girl’ Balnyan after conducting an investigation.”
Approaching Balnyan, Tashte handed her a piece of candy.
Live: “What? He gave her a candy? Do they know each other?”
Commentary: “Possibly. Lord Tashte’s mental attacks are potent. He wouldn’t surrender to just anyone. The question is, who is Balnyan?”

I greeted Tashite as he returned to the waiting room.
“Thanks for letting Bal win.”
“There is no need, Lord Luc. I couldn’t have defeated Lady Bal, to begin with.”
“But I think you could if you went all out.”
“That I cannot do. Lady Bal is a part of Lord Luc, and I must not ever defeat Lord Luc, even if it is staged.”
Tashte, why were you so loyal? I always shoved the troublesome things to you and just slept all the time, you know?
“I don’t really mind, though.”
“No, the fact that Lady Bal is participating means that Lord Luc has a plan in motion. And fulfilling Lord Luc’s wishes is my honor.”
You were excellent as always.
Anyway, Lyncean made it to the quarterfinals even though she mentioned she didn’t intend to win the championship. It seemed she was still not used to holding back.
I made it to the quarterfinals too, but could I withdraw already? I would only get matched up with Dan in the finals, and he had a big hurdle in his way in the form of Nora. I didn’t have high hopes for him beating her.
It seemed my quarterfinal match was against Natasha… I didn’t mind giving the victory to her, but should I do that?
“(^O^)/”
“Oh, welcome back, Bal.”
Bal appeared with a broad smile on her face, savoring the candy Tashte had given her. It was clear she loved it.
The next match was Cecilia VS Dan.
I wondered how strong Cecilia was.
I didn’t think Dan would lose to her, but I would have to alter my plan if he did…
“Lord Luc.”
“Hm? Oh, Hayase. What’s up?”
Hayase entered the waiting room, but instead of watching Dan’s match, she approached me.
“There’s something I need to talk about with you. Could you spare me a minute?”
Hayase had been revealed to be a double agent.
Something must be up for her to call me at this time.
It was a pain, but I couldn’t help but get a little excited at the same time.
I looked forward to seeing what she had prepared for me.
“Okay. Tashte, I’ll be back in a bit.”
“Yes, Lord Luc!”
“(^O^)/.”
With both of them seeing me off, I left the waiting room with Hayase.
T/N: I’ll be referring to Balnyan as ‘she’ going forward.
