[A Short Break]
After helping Lyncean, I ended up falling asleep.
Upon waking up, I found myself unable to get up because of the soreness in my muscles, my fists and knees broken from killing all those monsters without Balnyan’s protection. I had even lost all sensation in them, making me unable to feel the pain.
However, with my mana depleted Controlling Bal, I couldn’t cast recovery magic on myself.
I figured I’d just get back to sleep until my mana replenished, but…
“L-Luc, are you still in pain? H-here, have some water.”
“Thanks, Lyncean.”
Lyncean shyly brought a water pitcher to my mouth.
Similarly injured, Lyncean was also recuperating in the carriage, but lacking a change of clothes, she was only dressed in her underwear.
Quietly, I closed my eyes as I drank the water to prevent them from wandering inappropriately. Not like I could do anything at the moment.
“Master, how do you find the pillow?”
“It’s so comfy, Syrup. Thanks.”
Syrup, who let me use her lap as a pillow, stroked my head.
“We’ve completed the patrol,”
“Elina, I’m sorry for the trouble, and thank you.”
“It’s fine, Lynn.”
Though I couldn’t move, the carriage remained safeguarded by Balnyan, permitting only those I authorized to enter.
Each member of the group assumed different responsibilities in my absence.
Elina assumed the role of commander, while Tashte utilized his intelligence network to gather information.
It was impressive that his network extended even to Marshall Duchy, a testament to the capabilities of House Nezul. However, the information retrieval seemed slower than usual, likely due to the heightened threat level in Marshall Duchy.
“Elina, thank you for your hard work,” I murmured in appreciation, opening my eyes slightly.
But to my surprise, she was in the process of removing her armor. “Phew~, it feels much better without all this. I can finally let my hair down.”
“Hey, how could a princess wear nothing but her underwear in front of other people!”
“Oh? But aren’t you the same, Lynn?”
“Well, yes, but…”
“Pardon the intrusion.”
“Coming in-nya.”
“We are back.” Nora, Ruby, Anna, and Kuu also entered the carriage after Elina. They explained that Tashte and Badd were on watch outside as they also, for some reason, stripped down to their underwear for some reason.
All of them then began to settle down, preparing to sleep.
I ended up finding myself enveloped in softness and warmth, accompanied by a sweet, alluring scent.
“Good night,” I murmured, and…
““““““““Good night!!!””””””” echoed the chorus of voices around me.
With that, I forced myself to sleep using the little mana I had recovered.
“M-mngh.”
“Are you awake, Master?”
When I woke up, I heard Syrup’s voice from in front of me, but the inside of the carriage was pitch black, so I couldn’t see anything.
“Is that you, Syrup?”
“Yes, it is me.”
I had no idea how long I had been asleep, but I could sense that about half of my mana had recovered.
After casting regeneration and recovery magic, sensation returned to my limbs, accompanied by the comforting touch of gentle hands.
“How long was I asleep?”
“About two days, I believe.”
Two days to recover only half of my mana, huh.
It seemed defeating that horde of monsters had significantly raised my level. Despite still feeling sluggish, I could sense a newfound strength coursing through my body.
As I realized that, I found it wasn’t Syrup but Lyncean who held my hand. Elina grasped the other, with Nora, Ruby, Kuu, and Anna holding my legs.
“I’ve healed myself, but it looks like I still can’t move yet.”
“They’ve all been terribly worried about you.”
“Mhm, I know. I’ve redeployed the Search barrier and Auto-Sleep Arrow to protect the adventurers. Tashte should have already noticed it. Let’s take a bit more time to rest.”
Having explained the principles of the Auto-Sleep Arrow and Search barrier to Tashte, I was sure he would now feel more at ease, knowing the monsters would be kept at bay.
I had enhanced the Auto-Sleep Arrow to match the threat level of Marshall Duchy, imbuing it with the power to not only induce sleep but also high penetrative power. Now it should be able to kill the monsters who was resistant to its sleep-inducing effect, like those cyclops.
At my current level, few monsters could withstand my magic.
“May I sleep by your side today as well?”
“Of course, come closer,” I replied, settling back into sleep so as not to disturb the slumbering girls surrounding me.
The next time I awoke, I noticed that both the mercenaries and adventurers had noticeably leveled up.
“Boss, thank you for helping us grow so much stronger. We’re all grateful to you.”
“It’s nothing, just consider it a bonus. The levels of monsters also have a cap, But you all know that monsters are inherently stronger than us in terms of basic abilities, right?”
“Yes! Especially those with attribute magic. It’s almost impossible for those of us without it to stand a chance.”
“Exactly. So, always take them on in groups and focus on dispatching them one by one.”
For some reason, they had organized themselves into three units: the mercenary unit, the adventurer unit, and, most surprisingly, the intelligent unit, respectively led by Badd, Ruby, and Tashte.
“Lord Luc, thanks to the geographical information provided by Lady Marshall, we’ve been able to better understand the lay of the surrounding area. As a result, we were able to confirm the Cyliss Marquisate has decreased significantly.”
Tashte’s intelligence unit had effectively utilized the information from Lyncean to confirm the current situation.
“Luc, thank you for rescuing the White Enaga Corps.”
There were a total of 14 knights saved alongside Lyncean, all of whom were women.
Apparently, white enagas tended to imprint on the first individuals they saw after birth as their parents. Among those individuals, only those who raised the enagas like their own children could join the White Enaga Corps.
Although there were some men among them, nearly 80% of the corps members were women.
Despite crashing to the ground with their enagas, they had kept on fighting valiantly. With our timely rescue, they were able to survive and live to see another day.
“I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.”
“But that doesn’t change the fact that you saved me, Luc,” Lyncean said gratefully and, after making sure no one else was around, rewarded me with a kiss. Honestly, how could she be so cute?
